What makes

Pack 77 great?

We Are Dedicated To Scouting

Cub Scout Pack 77 is made up of five Dens: one for each grade level. The Den Leaders are at least two parents from their son's Den.

Boys can start scouts in First Grade in the Tiger Den.  We like to keep two-deep leadership to ensure the safety of our scouts and so the adults benefit from shared leadership.  Each Den is responsible for a Pack-wide activity. Tigers enjoy Go-See-Its, Den activities, and family activities. They earn beads for their achievements and a Tiger badge after all the Achievements are complete. The Tiger Den is responsible for creating a Christmas parade float. All of the Den Duties are in files on this page.

The Wolf Den is made up of Second Grade students who have either completed the Tiger program or who have recently joined scouting. A boy can join Pack 77 at any time. Each school year starts a new scout program in First, Second, and Third Grades. The Wolf Den's duty is the Christmas Party which is usually the third Sunday of December. Wolves are working on 12 achievements to earn their Wolf badge.

The Bear Den members are Third Grade students who are working on 12 Achievements; however, they can choose from a list of 24 Achievements. The parents are asked to help the Den Leaders with scout program. The parents, including the leaders, are the akelas. Akela (a - kay - la) is an Indian word meaning leader. All the akelas are responsible for guiding a Cub through scouting. Akelas have experiences and knowledge they can share to teach scout skills. The Bear Den is responsible for popcorn sales. This is our only fundraiser and is the primary source of our budget. We use funds from popcorn sales to award Cubs with patches, beltloops, and beads. We also use the funds for our Pinewood Derby, Water Bottle Rocket Derby, Matinee Movie Meeting, Pool Party, Christmas Party and Parade, and all our other fun activities.

Webelos is a two year program for Fourth through Fifth Grade. The best way to begin and get a jump start on the Webelos program is to go to Webelos Resident Camp at Camp Tuscarora the summers after Third and Fourth Grades. If a boy wants to start Cub Scouts in Fifth Grade and has not had any previous scouting experience, that is not a problem. He has time to earn everything he needs in order to earn his Webelos Badge. WEBELOS stands for WE'll BE LOyal Scouts, so you will find the Webelos engaged in activities that are similar to Boys Scouts so the Cubs will feel prepared upon crossing into Boys Scouts after Fifth Grade.

We have two Webelos Dens. The Webelos 1 Den is comprised of Fourth Grade boys. This Den is responsible for the Blue and Gold Ceremony. This is a special time in the Cub Scout year when we celebrate all that makes scouting great. The Webelos 2 Den's duty is the Pinewood Derby in January. Dads and sons have a great together time making cars either for speed, design, or both. The community is invited to watch this special all day event. We have a great 6 lane track. All boys get to race once in every lane. The times are calculated so the fastest cars win. We give a lot of trophies.

Pack 77 has a lot of fun through out the year. The whole Pack goes camping in the Fall and in the Spring in addition to a Den campout every so often.  Cub Scouts is not just for boys grades 1-5, it is for the whole family. Mothers, dads, siblings, grandparents, friends, and relatives all share in the fun that is Cub Scouting in Pack 77.
